Applying for training in PICU
Introduction
This section is intended for those who are interested in subspecialitiy training in PICU through the NTN Grid Scheme which is run by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). Although every effort has been made to ensure accuracy of information, please check the RCPCH website for current details.
Background
The two year training programme is at Level 3 stage (ST 6- 8/SpR year 3- 5) and trainees must have completed core training. For entry from anaesthetics, the current requirement is to have the FRCA and have completed ST4 training (www.rcoa.ac.uk – training in PICM)

Application Process
The annual application process usually begins in September. Applications are through the RCPCH website.
Interview
Interviews are generally in late November. There is a process of matching where candidates’ preferences are considered based on their interview rank (see RCPCH website).
