Next meeting
The next PICS-E meeting will be hosted by Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS FT, due the central location.
It will be in the Education centre on the lower ground floor on the 24th April 2012 from 11:00 - 15:00.
The hospital does not have parking, but there is parking in nearby NCP car parks. It is easily reached walking from all the central Birmingham railway stations and also the National Express coach station.

PIC course audit
Sue Fidment has emailed all members an audit on paediatric intensive care courses. Please can we remind you to return these by the end of February so findings can be presented at the meeting. Paediatric Intensive Care Society Educators (PICS-E)
The purpose of the PICS-E group is to provide a networking platform and support system to Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse Educators throughout the UK. The group meets every 6 months to share ideas, compare practice and develop and review current and future standards for nurse education from orientation to Post Graduate specialism.
If you work in PIC nurse education of any form, you are welcome to join us!

PICS-E have written standards for nurse education which are now included in the PICS Standards document
The relevant sections are standards for nurse training and education are:

Each unit should have a nominated nurse responsible for professional development of nursing staff within the unit with time allocated within his/her job plan for this role. This nurse should also offer support and advice on the professional development of allied health professionals working within the unit and nursing staff within referring hospitals. |
